Grazing
The animal that has been appearing in my various social feeds the most over the past year. From various social media posts, to odd animal fact lists, the giraffe has ever been a constant companion. With that in mind, I decided during my trip to the Knoxville Zoo I should head out and see if I could get a decent photo of the amazing animal. I wasn’t disappointed, the animals were out grazing peacefully next to the zebras and elephants, and just as impressive sight as I remember. Despite my urge to capture the whole animal, in the end I opted for a more classic headshot.
This shot was one of the few that was truly simple, the giraffe slowly grazing over the leaves seen here. I decided as I snapped off the photos that I wanted to line the neck up from the edge of the frame, and see if i could get the tongue out of the mouth. It was worth the wait, I got a clean image, and managed to hide the majority of the enclosure within the scene.
I used a similar editing technique to the rhino and elephant here, however I softened some of the light, brought back some of the greens much like the zebra shot. I did want a fairly consistent look for all the zoo photos. Thankfully this particular image let me set a full style for the day, and made the editing for the rest of the images much easier.
Until Next Time!
