The Coves Morning Light

Morning in Cades Cove is a majestic experience, the clouds rolling off the high peaks as the morning light streams in from the side. Fields doted with trees providing a lush habitat for the animals contained within the preserve. Truly, the cove is a place locked in time, even as it marches ever onward. Looking off the well worn path into this majestic landscape gives you pause. It’s easy to imagine waking to such sights, sounds and smells, easy to imagine walking these great fields, working the land. Surely, as the coves morning light streams in, you feel transported back to a simpler time.

Sunrise here was truly magical, I have often gotten to see many such places, and every time it blows me away. Armed with nothing more than a camera and an Idea, I travel, I observe, and in the end I am once again reminded how beautiful these places truly are. During the last year while I was predominately stuck at home I found myself longing to return to nature.

Working on pieces such as this seems like it should be harder. In times past, when I was a fledgling photographer it would of been. I would of overbaked this photo in a heartbeat trying to find technical perfection. It took me a long time to realize, imperfections were what made photography such a joy. Yes, I could in fact remove all haze, create an image that seems almost hyper realistic, but I just don’t feel a need to. It can take time to come to that realization, but once you do, it is truly liberating.

Until Next Time!
