Behind the Falls
Time and patience work hand in hand over the years, decades, centuries to impressive features into the landscape. From towering mountains, to sweeping hills, deep gorges, and rivers that snake their way through the land. Time heals all wounds, and shapes the world as you know it, time is the master of all things. This waterfall flowing off the edge from the shelf just above showing what wind, water, and time can do when left to their work, a deep cavernous opening behind the steady roar of the Cullasaja river overtop of you, mist spraying back into your face as you pass by. This is is just a small example of the power time holds on all things, and a reminder of how our world is shaped.
Dry Falls is a fairly famous, and frequented waterfall in Highlands North Carolina, and a gorgeous place to spend a day. A very short hike of only.2 miles down to the other end of the trail, and another .2 back to the parking area above. A slight elevation gain of 72 feet [I believe it’s more, but who am I to argue with satellites, GPS and the almighty measuring tape]. It’s a gorgeous view, especially on a hot summer day. The cooling mist relaxes, and lifts your spirits as you’re surrounded by sound, nature, and memories.
The edit here was actually fairly simple, first illuminating the path behind the falls themselves, then darkening the hole where the water flows off the edge. Adding a bit of brightness and contrast to the railing that leads your eye through the frame while keeping the water highlights down. Of course this was a long exposure, It was what made sense at the time, perhaps more texture would of treated this well, perhaps not. I stubbornly assumed I had gotten it in one. For a final workover I added a bit more warmth to the foliage while darkening it just slightly.
Until Next Time!
