Mountain Ridges
Weather patterns in the mountains can be a sight to behold, clouds dropping form the sky down into the valleys bellow without warning. Of course it actually takes a bit of time for the inversion to happen, but catching the clouds as they begin resting atop a peak is still a fun sight. Though I didn’t have the time to wait for the clouds to begin dropping tendrils, I thought this shot was compelling, despite being in firmly in blue hour there was enough light to create some depth within the scene. I had been done with shooting for the day, but had to turn around and attempt to compose the scene.
The idea of being “Done” for the day in photography is a strange one. You’re only done because you think the scene isn’t going to give you anything more than what you got. You’re “Done” because the light has gone, and you have nothing but a dark, or over bright view in front of you with no more drama. The truth is, as it often is, very different. You’re done THERE, at that moment. You could wait around and see if the light changes in your favor, or you could pack up and start headed elsewhere for perhaps better conditions. When you think you’re done, and headed home… keep your eyes open, because around every corner, bend in the road is another opportunity waiting.
I have passed by so many shots I SHOULD have gotten out and taken, but it’s a bad habit. You SHOULD look for those shots, you should STOP for those shots! Get them while they’re there, and don’t have regrets after passing them by. Today I refused to give up, thought this shot would be in vain. Turned out to be a lovely subtle photo I much enjoyed shooting, you should look for those compositions as you drive to or from your locations, because sometimes they may indeed surprise you.
Until Next Time!
