Moody Mountains

Fall in the smokies is truly a sight to behold. The ebb and flow of colors, light, and weather combining into something truly beautiful. The sun burning its way through the clouds and bathing everything it touches in a warm light. To watch the play of light and shadow from a distance is truly an incredible feeling, breathing the crisp mountain air, watching the clouds streak across the sky, and the magic of the moment breathing new life into your very core. Fall in the mountains is a sensation few get to experience, perhaps these simple stills will give you a reason to strive to find the time.

Standing up in those frosty peaks to get a few photos is certainly an experience, not one I often relish. While I had left my home it was still 45f once I got to the overlook though, 20f not counting the wind. Enough to chill you deep into your core, but refreshing all the same.. This was my first official landscape shoot with my new Fuji X-H2 and I am still learning how to properly balance the exposure, it will take a bit of time, but will get there all the same.

The edit for this shot was a bit more in depth, finding the right balance of contrast, pulling the haze back as much as I could. And, surprisingly this is cropped in substantially, more than I usually would. Despite that, I also made a few minor color corrections to the photo, bringing out those rusted orange hues in the mountain in the foreground, while also deepening the blues in the distant mountains beyond.

Until Next Time!
